Nicely said, Greg. Many people find meditation difficult, and so will not stick with it, and for these there are techniques that we can do all day long, rather than a formal sit-down meditation, to easily work up to meditation.

"silencing the mind through meditation is the way to open that portal to our inner consciousness that reveals us in our unique, original self." Well said Greg :-)

I believe that for most of us, silencing the mind through meditation is the way to open that portal to our inner consciousness that reveals us in our unique, original self. The only draw back is that it will take some time, possibly a long time. No book, no guru, no system will open up that portal. The realization of our true self is of a value beyond lay terms, as it should, it comes only when the work is done. Haste and borrowed comprehension will create an illusionary, temporary, emotional-ego based belief, that when uncovered will create much disappointment, confusion, and despair, thus, the difficult sell of meditation, and mindful living. The originality you refer to is about absolute surrendering to silencing the outside world, and allowing your inimitable relationship with yourself to cultivate at its own distinctive pace. This commitment takes much courage. To summon it one must take total responsibility and authorship in their path.

The mind must be developed by you alone. There is no way for others to do the work and for you to reap the results. reading someone else's blueprint of mental progress will not transfer its realizations to you. You have to develop them yourself.

Thanks Hilary, thanks Peter. Definitely read Purple Cow man, it is the bomb. Same for the Medici Effect. Blue Ocean is an awesome act of branding a powerful concept (combine disparate elements to create innovation) but in my opinion it's a bit too left brain (Is 'left' the dry boring side that likes maths?) BUT the concept is awesome. Especially the graph where the authors explain how to go beyond the competition's current offerings.

Love the title Seamus! And these are all good suggestions. I'll check out those books. I've been meaning to read 'Purple Cow' for sometime; the others I haven't heard of before.

I so agree with you! We tend to be reluctant to be completely original, don't we? We haven't seen the product of our own special interests and insights out there so we think it couldn't work.
