I remember the ramshakle office cum lunch room. I miss the cafe and Alan and have thought of him often over the years. Coincidentally, a google search on cafe feedwell is what brought me to your site. I'm thinking to pay homage to it with a business venture of mine. Was delighted to read your entry... and on my own spiritual quest... the journey began planting herbs out the back and learning to make sugar free muffins!
