What a beautiful story! When things do not go in an expected way, I am more inclined to think that there can be some divine purpose behind the situation. Having faith and practicing gratitude for the blessings that I already have, is very helpful during the challenging times.

All beings everywhere are worthy, not just some. We are all playing the game of life. So of course, as you know, we cannot know ourselves until we know who we are not..

@shadowduck - yes well! If it is any consolation I was four beers in when I wrote this and, hey I did use the word "suck" right?

And the music is going great thanks, people can listen and/or download it free here: http://seamus.bandcamp.com - no doubt you'll find it refreshingly un-chicken souplike.

@Jon - yes, you gotta catch a cold to get your chicken soup right?

Very good seamus

" Two: before you beat yourself up for being a loser human being, consider that your (apparently) imperfect life, with all its failings and weaknesses, may in fact exist as part of some divine plan for the better."

I agree, so many times we feel that the stuff of life is that and not that, the calm and not the storm and yet i've come to feel it is all part of the human experience and allows us to fully come to know who we are.

Hey, good to see you back! How's the music going?

This post seems uncharacteristically chicken-soupy by your usual standards... It's an interesting topic though; we never know which decision, large or small, will finish up having a dramatic effect on our lives. I think I'm happier not knowing - life's pretty good as it is and I don't think knowing I'd be a millionaire if I'd turned left instead of right sometime in 1993 would improve it much! #8-D
